Today is spent in the computer lab completing Classworks assignments for tier 2 interventions and English remediation. We're working on building up those reading and comprehension skills!

Warm-ups: Students will copy down chapter 7 reading questions (we will answer these questions together at the completion of chapter 7)
1) What does Jem tell Scout about his pants?
2) What is Scout's initial reaction to finding the soap carvings?
3) What is Jem's reaction?
4) Why are they unable to fulfill their plan?
5) How does Jem react to Nathan Radley's actions?
Activities: We will read chapter 7 out loud in class and answer chapter 7 reading questions.
Journal - Jem's Pants: Students will write down Jem's thoughts from his point of view. Use complete sentences, stream of consciousness, poetry or any other writing techniques that help you adequately express Jem's feelings.
HOMEWORK: NONE (If students have not completed their journals, they will be allowed to complete them at home for homework. These journals will not be taken after Wednesday, November 7, 2012.)

Activities: We will read chapter 8 out loud in class and answer chapter 8 reading questions.
Role Play - Be a Journalist: Students will take on the role of a journalist for The Maycomb Tribune and perform necessary steps for writing a factual and fascinating newspaper article.

5) What does Scout realize years later about the conversation between Atticus and Jack?
Activities: We will read chapter 9 out loud in class and answer chapter 9 reading questions.
Setting Analysis - Finch's Landing: Students will exercise their creative sides to draw what they see when they read the description of the old Finch Home. This is the first chapter NOT set in Maycomb, so students will visualize their new setting.

Activities: Today we will be learning about the five paragraph format. Students will discuss the structure of a five paragraph essay, receive essay prompts, and organize their ideas into a five paragraph graphic organizer.
